Tim Dunn

Tim Dunn is a Partner in Leathwaite’s New York office, where he advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies on critical leadership decisions. He works closely with investors, boards, and management teams at consequential moments in a company’s evolution, particularly when the business mandate, leadership requirements, or organizational model are still taking shape. Tim brings a business-outcomes approach to executive search, beginning with what the organization needs to accomplish and translating those priorities into the leadership capabilities required to deliver.

Tim has led senior functional and operating searches across the private equity ecosystem, including assignments at both the investment firm and portfolio-company levels. His work spans C-suite and other critical leadership roles, with particular experience supporting businesses navigating transformation, rapid growth, leadership transitions, organizational change, and preparation for an eventual exit. Prior to joining Leathwaite, Tim was a Partner at Morgan Samuels, where he advised private equity sponsors and management teams on similarly complex and high-impact leadership mandates.

Before entering executive search, Tim held operating and commercial leadership roles, giving him a practical understanding of the challenges executives face when translating strategy into results. He began his career as an officer in the United States Army, serving as an infantry platoon leader and Army Ranger. Tim earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he played for the football team, and an MBA from The Wharton School.
Tim lives in the Greater Philadelphia area with his spouse and their four children. He is actively involved in his church and community, coaches youth sports, and mentors transitioning service members through American Corporate Partners.
