Sabbatical Diaries Week Two: Rosie Gibson in South Africa!

Rosie’s Sabbatical Diaries, Week 2 – travel to Cape Town:

Week two of my sabbatical is over, and it’s been another action packed 7 days!

Having arrived in Cape Town, we spend a couple of days exploring the city. Visiting Robben Island and hiking up and down Table Mountain.

We then moved on and spent time in the seaside suburb Camps Bay, enjoying an amazing meal at a seafood restaurant recommended by Leathwaite’s Philippa Futter. This was followed by a stay in the small fishing village of Hout Bay, involving another hike, this time to the beautiful Chapman’s Peak.

Having done quite enough exercise for one holiday, we drove to the heart of wine country, Franschhoek, via the beautiful wine estate Babylonstoren. Here, we spent 2 days travelling around the wine estates on the wine tram, my new favourite mode of transport.

Next week we are driving down the coast on the garden route. We’re looking forward to more experiences during our final week in South Africa!

Although I missed the Leathwaite participation in Run In The Dark, I am glad I managed the 5-hour hike instead!
