Leathwaite's Sabbatical Diaries:
-
Sabbatical Diaries: Kate Huggins week one, travels to the North of England
A little overdue because of Covid, I am finally taking my four-week paid sabbatical – care of Leathwaite.
-
Sabbatical Diaries: Kate Huggins week two in the UK
Having leapt straight onto the road for my first week. Week 2 was mostly spent back home enjoying our local countryside.
What kinds of roles can you have at Leathwaite in executive search?
Graduate Associates/Associates – support our teams in placing executive search roles by attending client calls, conducting desk-based research to locate profiles, speaking to potential candidates and sources and compiling reports for our clients.
Senior Associates – continue with the delivery-focused remit of the Associates as mentioned above, but take a lead in interviewing, as well as presenting candidates and short-/long-lists to clients. They have greater overall responsibility for delivering searches and are typically specialised in one or more areas. In addition, they shadow our more senior staff to learn the ropes and mentor our Associates and Graduate Associates.
Consultants – carry out a blend of delivery and business development, specialised in a particular area. On the delivery side, Consultants will lead interviews, manage candidates and present profiles to clients, straddling the hands-on and the strategic aspects of ensuring assignments are completed. On the business development side, Consultants will work to a target, liaising with existing clients to bring new business into the firm, but in addition, networking with new potential clients.
Directors – have a focus on business development and a financial target to reach, albeit retaining involvement and oversight of assignment delivery, including leading interviews, client calls and managing candidates. They are specialised in one or more particular areas and have leadership responsibilities within their teams.
Partners – hold the responsibilities of a Director but have ownership of a particular speciality within the firm, leading the work in this space. A number of Partners at Leathwaite are home-grown, having grown up with the firm and honed their skills here.
