Supporting the next generation through our partnership with St Marylebone School

We’re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with St Marylebone School, supporting ambitious young people as they take the next steps in their academic and professional journeys.

St Marylebone School is a state school with a strong commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. Around 40% of students speak English as an additional language, and 59% come from backgrounds other than White British. Many are the first in their families to apply to university, often without access to the networks, guidance, and interview experience that can make a significant difference during the application process.

This autumn, colleagues from across Leathwaite will once again be supporting students preparing for interviews for Oxford, Cambridge, and other highly competitive university programmes, as well as Degree Apprenticeship opportunities.

Drawing on their own professional experience, our volunteers will conduct one-to-one mock interviews, helping students build confidence, refine their communication skills, and articulate their ambitions and interests more effectively. Ahead of each session, students share their personal statements, allowing conversations to be tailored to their chosen subjects and aspirations.

The programme has become an important part of our community engagement efforts and reflects our commitment to supporting social mobility and widening access to opportunity. By helping students navigate pivotal moments in their educational journey, we hope to make a meaningful difference to their confidence and prospects.
