Key Themes

In the past quarter, there have been a number of female group CCO appointments, including Wells Fargo, DTCC and Visa. It will come as no surprise that diversity has been underpinning much of the hiring we’ve been doing across our various practice areas, but it is quite telling that this past year 72% of placements we’ve made across legal, risk & compliance have been gender diverse. While measuring ethnic diversity is more subjective, it goes without saying that we expect demand for ethnic diversity to be as much if not more of a priority this coming year.

We have continued to see demand for chief compliance officers in banking, asset management & alternatives, payments and fintech / crypto segments. Some of the more established fintech companies like PayPal are adding to their financial crime teams, while newer entrants like Robinhood look to build out their compliance function.
