Key Moves – Digital & Retail

  • Paul Clark has joined HSBC from ITV as Global Head of Digital Technology & Engineering Labs.
  • Derek White, Barclays Chief Design and Digital Officer has joined Spain’s BBVA.  He was appointed to the role of Global Head of Customer Solutions.
  • Chidi Okpala has been appointed as Chief Digital Officer at Atlas Mara, former Barclays Chief Executive Bob Diamond’s new venture. He is focusing on its Pan-African expansion.
  • Sigga Sigurdardottir has been appointed by Santander UK, joining the bank as Head of Innovation. Sigga reports jointly to Nathan Bostock (CEO) and to Jose Maria Fuster (Global Head of Innovation).
  • Dan Wass leaves his role as MD, Transactional Business for Barclays PCB and joins Nationwide running all products under Chris Rhodes.
  • Elizabeth G. Chambers was appointed by Western Union Company, which is also revamping its product team, to the newly-created role of Chief Strategy and Product Officer.
  • George Ashworth has left his role at ABN AMBRO as Managing Director of the UK branch to join Virgin Money. The bank has announced a potential push into SME banking.
  • Hugh Chater leaves the retail private banking division of RBS, joining Virgin Money in June 2016 as Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Stuart Haire, previously MD of RBS Direct bank is appointed to run the UK HSBC Retail Bank based in Birmingham.
  • Nigel Hinshelwood has been named by HSBC for the newly-created role of Head of UK and Deputy CEO of the ring-fenced HSBC Bank Plc.
  • Mark Stokes has decided to leave Williams & Glyn and join Metro Bank as Managing Director of Commercial Banking.
  • Didier von Daeniken was hired by Standard Chartered from Barclays. Didier heads up the newly combined private banking and wealth management operations.
  • Simon Cooper, shortly after the hire of Didier, has been hired by Standard Chartered, from HSBC, to head up its corporate and institutional banking division.
  • Ian Henderson has been appointed by Secure Trust Bank PLC. He joins the bank as Head of Strategic Business Development and Chief Executive Officer of Personal Lending and Mortgages.
  • Julie Batch has been appointed IAG’s Chief Customer Officer from her previous role as Chief Analytics Officer for the business.

Key Moves – Transaction Banking

  • Faisal Ameen is promoted internally to the role of Asia-Pacific Head of Transaction Banking for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, after the departure of Ivo Distelbrink, based in Singapore.
  • Andy Dyer, former Head Transaction Banking Asia Pacific, Europe and Americas for ANZ has left to join ING, tasked with growing its APAC presence.
  • Takayoshi Takeshita, has been hired by  Barclays from RBS. He will now be responsible for Japanese corporations aiming to grow in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, increasing speculation surrounding Barclays’ desire to focus solely on Japan.
  • Richard Giummarra has joined Standard Chartered after spending over 12 years with Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s transaction services in APAC.
  • George Stein has joined UniCredit as Head of Global Transaction Banking for the UK. He is tasked with strengthening the bank’s UK-based capabilities and business in trade finance and cash management.
  • Philippe Benoît joins BNP as Head of APAC for its Securities Services business. He replaces Lawrence Au, who has retired.
  • Lim Him Chuan has been appointed by DBS Bank as Global Head of Product Management for Global Transaction Services, moving internally from the bank’s institutional group.
  • Holger Frank has been appointed by UniCredit as head of the now combined financial institutions group and transaction banking in APAC, replacing Oliver Hoffmann who joined The Erste Group.
  • François-Xavier Reignier joined MUFG as the new EMEA Head of Structured Trade Finance from BNP. Also recently joining MUFG as part of its ongoing growth are:
    • Fayçal Tazi and François Colombani, both as senior directors.
  • Deutsche Bank has announced several high profile management changes as part of a global shakedown to improve its risk management: 
    • Susan Skerritt is leading Institutional cash management (also head of GTB Americas).
    • Satvinder Singh is leading securities services (also head of GTB EMEA excluding Germany).
    • Michael Spiegel is leading trade finance and cash management corporates.
    • Stefan Bender joins as head of GTB Germany.
    • Lisa Robins is appointed Head of GTB Asia Pacific.
  • Stephen Doyle has been appointed by Société Generale Securities Services as Head of Institutional Sales for asset managers and insurers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, joining from Northern Trust.
  • John Sergides has been appointed by MUFG as Global Head of Business Development and Marketing for its Investor Services. The appointment coincides with the completion of MUFG Investor Services’ acquisition of UBS Asset Management Alternative Fund Services (AFS) business.
