Key Moves


  • Metro Bank has made two additions to its executive team, both joining in August and reporting to CEO Craig Donaldson.
    • Ian Walters will join as Managing Director of Commercial Banking.

    • Iain Kirkpatrick will join him as Managing Director of Regional Banking.

  • Richard Wilson joins Co-op Bank as CAO following the departure of Bob Rickert who left earlier this year. He will report into CEO Niall Booker.
  • David Oldfield has been appointed as Interim CEO, Retail Banking of Lloyds Banking Group. This follows the departure of Alison Brittain to become CEO of Whitbread. David will report to Antonio Horta-Osario.
  • Mikael Michau has followed Darryl West to HSBC from Barclays to set up a new function to drive standardisation of IT programme / project delivery and centralise c2,000 resources in this space.
  • Pam Brown joined Aldermore Bank as Marketing Director in September 2015. Pam reports to Chief Customer and Strategy Director, Vicki Harris and was appointed from British Gas where she had responsibility for running innovation marketing.
  • Andreas Koerner has joined Nomura Asset Management UK as its Head of Marketing and Client Relations for EMEA. He has been brought in to replace Mark Roxburgh who decided to retire after 15 years with Nomura.
  • Lisa Frazier has moved from CBA where she was Chief Digital Officer to San Francisco to start her own business. Peter Steel has been promoted to replace her.
  • Mark Stead joins Nutmeg as Chief Revenue Officer after five years as Sales, Marketing & Digital Director and EDF.

Commerce & Industry

  • Ian Rogers, former Apple executive, has been enlisted by French conglomerate LVMH as its Chief Digital Officer, a newly created position. Rogers founded Mediacode, which was then purchased by Yahoo, where he became vice president and general manager of music. From there he was brought in as CEO of Topspin Media, where he spent five years, before becoming CEO of Beats Music. He joined Apple’s iTunes team last year as its senior director, before briefly overseeing the launch of Apple Music.
  • Sue Langley, former Hiscox COO, has joined Gallagher as their new non-executive chairman.
  • Mike Bracken has been appointed as the Chief Digital Officer for Co-operative Group. Starting in October, he leaves his position as Executive Director of the Government Digital Service and the UK government’s Chief Data Officer. He reports into CEO Richard Pennycook.


  • Gary Lorenz has moved to AIG as Global Head of Technology Risk Management from MUFG Americas where he was CISO, having held the same role at Union Bank previously. 
  • Annabelle Bexiga joined AIG from her role as COO at TIAA Cref. Annabelle joins as Commercial Insurance Business Information Officer, which is a newly created role. She will report into CIO Phil Fasano and John Doyle, CEO of the commercial insurance business.
  • Gordon Walters has joined Towergate Insurance as interim CIO following the departure of Jill Lucas. A search is underway for the new permanent CIO.
  • Adam Braff joins Zurich Insurance to become EVP, Global Head of Data and Analytics, starting in September. Adam reports into Global COO Robert Dickie. Adam’s last role was SVP for business analytics at DirectTV.
  • Martin Henley has been announced as Global CIO XL Catlin. XL acquired Catlin Group in May 2015 to form the new entity. Martin was formerly CIO of Catlin. Robin Arendt, former XL CIO has left the firm after leading the technology integration of the two firms.
  • David Jack has left Hyperion Insurance Group, where he was Group CIO to join Metapack in the same role. MetaPack provides Delivery Management Software to leading retailers, brands and delivery partners across the world. In his new role David Jack will be responsible for overseeing all software engineering and will report directly to Patrick Wall, CEO and founder of MetaPack Group.
  • Conor Whelan joined JLT Group as Group CIO.
  • Brent Kruger also joined JLT Group as CIO for Latin America.
  • Adrian Brown joined Towergate as COO.
  • Janice Deakin also joined Towergate as head of its retail broking division.
  • Helen Brooks has been appointed Chief Data Officer at Lloyd’s of London, replacing David Lang who left the firm in August 2015. Helen previously held the position of group customer data director at Tesco, and earlier in her career spent a number of years at Virgin Media.
  • E. Scott Gilbert has started as Marsh & McLennan’s first ever Group CIO. He was previously the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.
  • Bruce Hodges joins Generali as Head of IT Systems reporting into the Group COO Carsten Schildknecht.
  • Justin Delaney becomes TAL’s first ever COO after moving over from Macquarie where he was head of wealth products and platforms in the banking and financial services group.
  • Kristof Terryn has been appointed CEO of General Insurance at Zurich Insurance where he was CEO of Global Life. He succeeds Mike Kerner, who announced his decision to step down from the role.


  • Mark Jamison has left BBVA in Madrid where he was Head of Customer Solutions to join Visa in San Francisco as Head of New Product R&D. 
  • Carlos Lima has joined Verifone in Miami as President of Latin America and Caribbean. Previously Carlos was COO at Vantiv.
  • John D. Rainey has joined PayPal, the digital payments leader, as its new CFO effective August 2015. Rainey joins PayPal from United Continental where he was Executive Vice President and CFO at United Airlines.
  • Simon Adamiyatt has joined Earthport as CFO following a successful 25-year career in investment banking. 
  • Andrew Hauser joins the Bank of England as Executive Director for Banking, Payments and Financial Resilience. Andrew has been with the bank in various roles since 1992.
  • Joe Saunders, former Visa CEO, has joined Kash, a US payments start-up, as chairman of the board.
  • William (Bill) Dennings joined Bitreserve as its first CISO, having previously held the same position at MasterCard for 15 years and then at Nike. Bill is the second senior leader that the bitcoin start-up has attracted from Nike, following the earlier appointment of Anthony Watson as CEO in April 2015.
