London: The event gave all the riders the opportunity to complete a series of timed laps around the famous banked circuit where Team GB achieved so much success at the 2012 Olympics.

“Cycling within a velodrome is completely different to road cycling, most notably as the bikes don’t have brakes! They employ a single fixed rear gear, or cog, that doesn’t allow riders to freewheel.”

Throughout their hour-long experience the riders were urged on by the VeloPark coaches, continually increasing the tempo as they rose higher on the steep banks, finally finishing the experience with a timed ‘hot lap.’

“I never imagined that I would be cycling around the very same circuit as Sir Chris Hoy – what a unique experience. Thank you so much to everyone at Leathwaite for inviting me!”
